Australia’s energy transition and the newly established Net Zero Economy Agency (NZEA) are the focus of an opinion piece in The Australian by Macroeconomics Advisory’s Stephen Anthony and Alex Coram. They argue that what passes for a strategy is actually the costly and risky approach of simply adding more and more renewables and transmission capacity. They contend that in order to reach net zero in a transparent, cost-effective, and efficient way, we need market structure reforms that open the energy market to nuclear and other technologies.
